Second Quarter Report

For my second quarter report, I have decided to chart my bouts with several common ailments and their duration in my system here versus abroad.

I have found these remedies to be the best, uncommon as they may be.

These are the provinces/countries where I have spent my last year. December '06-May '07 I spent conducting field research. November '07-Present I have spent re-acclimating to my native zoo york.

A Game of Dress Up

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Just a little Sunday afternoon dressing up with nowhere to go. I think I'm gravitating towards a uniform. Too much thinking involved.

Transgendered Leia + Pimped Out Lando

As diverse as the Star Wars Universe is, there are only few variants on the white male in the human species. Here are two characters that I'd like to point out since they provide voices for the otherwise under-repped.

1] Forced to masquerade as a bounty hunter, Princess Leia dons a Boushh Bounty Hunter costume in the beginning sequence of The Return of the Jedi. Sitting there in the movie theater way back when, I never assumed that it was a female underneath the menacing bouty hunter suit, let alone Leia. This was probably the response of most of the audience and served as a nice twist bringing Leia's character to action. She was very boy. The lengths that a woman will go to rescue her man...shit, boys don't cry and neither do bounty hunters.

2] Black characters are very few and far between in the Star Wars universe. Before Mace Windu was introduced in the prequels with his pimp purple lightsaber, there was Lando Calrissian. Though he was known as a professional gambler and entreprenuer to the galactic public, we all knew that Lando's character was conceived to add some playboy flair and dark chocolate charm to the republic. Replete with a smooth operator style and blue cape with golden lining, Lando was a cool duude in a galaxy far far away... like uptown far.
